IMPERIAL JAPAN
Only recently brought out of an almost feudal world, Japan is eager to prove that she is the equal of any of the Great Powers. Unlike many other nations, She seems to want to walk each and every path opened by Invader technology or Steam Technology.
Although most of the Japanese forces are conventionally armed, certain Special Units (called Smoke Stalkers) are equipped with Black Smoke devices.
Steam Technology Wonders

Japanese striders and colossi, aerostats and aeroscaphs, panzers and even mechanical men have all been noted accompanying Japanese forces. On the whole, these Japanese machines seem less robust and more problem prone than those of other nations, but none can fault the dedication and courage of their crews.

The Gojiraji colossus pictured here was created from a toy "robot," adding a Steam Tech smoke stacks and extra rivets.
